Children turning 7 & 8 years old this year
Format
Each session consists of a warm-up and some skill-based fun focussed games for the first 30-35 minutes. Players will then be split into teams of 5 for three short games of approx 15 minutes each – these games are played with other Old Boys teams as well as other Invercargill clubs.
Venue and Times
Fun Football is held at the ILT Football Turf (at Turnbull Thomson Park, Islington Street) each Saturday morning from 9am to 10:30am during the junior season (late April to early September).
There are no mid-week practice sessions for this age group. No games are scheduled during the middle week of school holidays. Typically there is no junior football over any long weekends, but this will be confirmed by Southland Football closer to those dates.
What the Players Need
We will provide an Old Boys playing top which the children are to return at the end of the season. Children are to wear red shorts and red socks – these can be purchased from the club shop (https://oldboysafc.co.nz/shop ). Shin guards must be worn. Boots are preferable (but not necessary) – if parents do not want to purchase boots, gym shoes can also be used on the turf.
