Old Boys AFC Premier Men’s team will be joining the Southern Premier League in 2025 following a successful promotion in a must win match vs Queenstown AFC.

The Prem’s joined the Fletcher Cup league in Dunedin for the 2024 season with the hopes of making it through to the promotion match. Following a successful season in which they managed to win the League following some final day drama, the team won the right to play a promotion match with Queenstown who were the bottom placed team in the SPL in 2024.

The match was played in Cromwell in September, and following a back and forth tussle Old Boys came out victors with a 2-0 result with Southland youth player of the year Zach Tull scoring both goals.

The team, and the Club are looking forward to the new challenges this promotion will bring but are very excited. President Nic Popham said “The whole club has been focused on this promotion and for the team to play as well as they have is a testament to their commitment and effort this season”.
