The game that never happened

The first week of the season pitted Old Boys flushed from their success in the preseason cup against last years new comers Winton. In some matches in 2017 Winton pushed us hard and so the Coaches were aware of a possible banana skin.

The game started well for Old Boys who mounted a series of attacks but were often repelled by the Winton sweeper who was outstanding all game. Eventually Ethan broke on the right and was able to get his shot in away from the keeper.

The next goal came from a Danny Rosel special as he made a great run in between defenders and headed home from a corner. He followed this up shortly after with another header where he outmuscled the defenders to rise the highest at a corner. This was despite a defender noting that he would be marking him tightly.

3-0 at half time was a comfortable lead with Winton only having one decent chance which was ruled out for offside.

Into the second and with a few positional changes things really started to crack into shape. Brandon and Antoine were especially effective in the second half as they scored four and three goals respectively.

Old Boys running riot over the last 20 minutes as Winton ran out of energy.

Unfortunately we would find out later that Winton were pulling out of Donald Gray and thus this match is wiped from the record books.

Tough break for the boys as they played well and several players now go back onto the nude run.
