Gore too strong for Old Boys DG

April fools day was the day that old boys received their first loss of the preseason tournament. The game was intense for the full 90 minutes but it was Gore that prevailed most of the time dominating possession and winning a majority of the 50/50 challenges.
Gore eventually through the pressure put one away but old boys struck back soon with Danny Rosel putting a great ball over the top to Jarod Cuff who then put in a nice ball to Ben Clixby who tucked it away nicely, eventually half time came with the score held at 1-1.
The second half however showed that it was Russell playing the pranks that day with Gore scoring 3 in the second half with 2 questionable for offside which clearly shows that lines men have a big part to play in football. Gore however were arguably the better team through out the game and I would personally say they deserved the 4-1 victory which could have been more if it was not for our MOTM Alex in goal who saved us several times through out the game .
However old boys were missing big players such as Mike Preddy, Nic pops, Jono Ross and Mitchell Fowler, so with these players back I’m sure we will put on a better showing next time.
Next Saturday we come up against Queens Park with Old Boys needing a victory by a couple of goals to make the final of the preseason tournament.
Special mention to Denny Patton who unfortunately passed away this week. Denny was a huge part of Old Boys when it came down to fundraisers and the building of the club so it was unfortunate we couldn’t get the win for him.
