Reuben Lindsay – NZF Advanced Coaching – Level 2
Old Boys AFC were lucky enough the have our very own Reuben Lindsay (Coach of Premier Team) in attendance. Everyone at the club congratulates Reuben on completing NZF’s Advanced Coaching Level Two course and wish him well for the coming season as he tries to secure another Donald Gray title for the club.
Lets here from the man himself…
Reuben Lindsay
Last week I was lucky enough to attend a six day Coaching course in Dunedin. It was the Senior Level 2/ Youth Level 3 course which is the first level of the NZF professional coaching pathway. The course was facilitated by Steve Dillon the Coach Development Manager from NZ Football and Paul O’Reilly the Football Development Manager for Football South in Dunedin and also the Southern United Coach. Several of Southern United’s Irish imports Danny, Steven, Erik, Connor and Andy who are also local FDO’s were also in attendance.
The course was held at Memorial Park in Mosgiel and we spent a mix of time in the classroom and out on the practice pitch. There were 16 attendees on the course with a mix of experience, backgrounds and teams they were coaching, from youths through women’s and men’s teams. It was a great opportunity to mix with other Coaches from around the federation and share ideas. There was a strong focus on planning training sessions that directly relate to either the style of play you are looking to achieve and or by identifying problem areas from previous matches.
The course has given me plenty of ideas for taking the Donald Gray team forward this season. I would encourage anyone looking to get some further learning in the Coaching space to take up any opportunities that are provided to them as these coaching courses are well facilitated and worthwhile. I’d like to thank the Club and Southland Football for making this opportunity possible.
If any of our Coaches have any questions around planning a training session then please get in touch as I’d be happy to offer some pointers.
Cheers,
Reuben Lindsay
